A public garden offers a short no-cost vacation from the ordinary.
I was biking along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail when I came upon a small but precious blooming paradise.  The Demonstration Gardens, is a project of the Horticultural Art Society of Colorado Springs, Inc. (HAS).  All parks maintained by HAS are free to the public.

It was a sunny midweek morning. The wee park was unexpectedly busy, with people of all ages. The garden was giving generously to the early morning visitors, offering more than just its charm and elegance.

There were adult plein aire painting students, striving to capture the essence of light and color with brush and oils.3_gardenIMG_5605

Young scholars, from Colorado College’s Gifted and Talented summer camp, studying botany through the eyes of the great Leonardo Da Vinci.4_gardenIMG_5574

And me? Well, I was enjoying a free mini holiday!
